Well, well. I let a quarter of a year slip by with no new posts. Oops. I guess we have been busy. So let see where to begin.....As most of you know, I have set the goal of running at least 12 half marathons this year. May was a catch up month, in the sense that I ran two halfs in one month. The first being the Mike Schweitzer half in Etna, CA. No, your eyes are not playing tricks on you. I not only ran with my two tiny humans, I was able to convince my crazy running partners, Jenelle and Heather to run with their tiny people. For this once in a lifetime event, we dubbed our selves the 6x3=13.1 (6 kids x 3 mom's = half marathon)....

The second half for May, was the Happy Girl Half in Bend, Or. Little miss M ran her first race. A 100 yard dash. Jessa, who is Jenelle's daughter also ran this race. :)

Someone in the family, no names N. Decided it would be a great idea to take the kids "tent" camping. So we packed up and headed out to the Lake Siskiyou Camp Ground. Again, it started out very innocent.....

This year our entire family received season passes to the Mt Shasta Ski park. Yes, even M and E have "Pup" passes, so it's a good thing that I taught Ski Wee lessons many many years ago. Today M experienced for the first time what it's like to slide across the snow. As we were picking up her skis in town, she looked at them and asked, "where are the pedals?" She was very excited about learning how to ski and wanted to "go way up high on the hill." It was a beautiful sunny day at the park, M learned about "Pie" and "French Fry" on the bunny slope, and she laughed and giggled, wanting to go "really fast." When we got home she informed me that "Little Bug (her baby), really really wants teeny tiny skis of her own." I think she enjoyed her first adventure to the ski park! Here's to many, many more.......

Oahu - Borgatti Style.

Every once in a great while everyone needs a break from reality, a chance to get away from the daily grind. In hopes of escaping being self employed, if only for a moment, we flew to Oahu, Hawaii to visit my middle sister and her boyfriend. Here's a glimpse into our adventures with Auntie Fern-E-Wiggle and Uncle Jeremy.

(Side note: The kiddos are not new to flying. Both have been on adventures since their infancy. However, I will say that having a 3 year old and a 1 year old on a plane in 3 seats has been the greatest challenge yet. Yes, E took it upon himself to let everyone hear just how well a 1 year old can screech. Not to mention he thinks it's great fun to kick, and pull at the tray tables, which happen to be connected to the seat in front of him. Sigh. We are those people on the plane. The ones that most people dread, and some people empathize with, but no one wants to be. And just in case we hadn't learned our lesson on the 6.5 hour flight to the islands or the 5.5 hour flight home, we are off to South Carolina in a week or so to see how many more passengers and flight attendants we can make say "thank goodness we aren't that couple." :)

As always I am way behind on this blog thing...so here is the last few months in a very short blurb. We've been on a few walks.

Once again we made the haul up to the Oregon Coast, to spend our annual week long trip at the Hors Fall Dunes Camp Ground. Our week was full of Dune rides, sunshine, morning bike rides, a walk on the beach, evenings around the camp fire and I even got a run in! Putting our toes in the sand what just what our little family needed.

Today is a big day in the Borgatti Family House. Elias decided today was the day he would take his first "official" walking steps! So not only do we have a new walker on our hands, but we have a new preschooler as well. My babies are getting so big.

As time marches on, our little girl continues to grow up. Madison went to and fully enjoyed her first day of preschool. As she was getting ready this morning I couldn't help but feel a wave of sadness wash over me. I no longer will be around for all her new experiences, or be there to protect her every minute of every day. It really is hard to let go. However, in the same breath I am happy. Madison is growing into such a wonderful little person and to watch her progression leaves me in awe. I love her so very much.

Run, Jasmine, Run...

I trained. I entered. I ran. I finished my first Marathon. :) (Also only my second race of my running hobby. Yes I run for fun.) After 10 months and over 600 miles of training. I ran 26.2 miles and crossed the finish line at the second annual Santa Rosa Marathon on August 29. With a time of 4:57:38. What an experience.

E really wanted to help me get ready.

Right after I finished...M really excited about her new beach ball...I was trying not to let my legs give out. :)

Overall it was an amazing experience. A challenge yes. But I started and I finished. And I can mark something off my bucket list. Will I ever run another marathon....my first thought as I crossed the finish line was "never again." But as I sit here, I am thinking about and have even looked into other marathons. There are so many awesome ones just waiting to be finished. For now I will stick to lower mileage accomplishments. I am running the Fort Jones 15 mile relay with two other runners this weekend. I only have to run 5 miles. And I will be running the Redwoods half marathon in Oct. Only 13.1 miles. I plan to run a few more halfs this winter and will see what my brain and body think about training for another marathon next year.

Here's to an experience I'm glad I pushed myself to accomplish. Mind, Body, Strong!

9 Months of "E"

Our little E had his Well Baby Check today, at just over 9 months he weighs in at 20 lbs 7 oz and 28.75". And again just to compare, M was 18 lbs. 2 oz and 28.5" at 9.5 months. Also, I think we can say E is officially mobile.

Spring has Sprung.....Maybe....

Spring has sprung....or at least we hope it has. On 4/21 this is what we woke up to
But it melted quickly and the days have been sunny and warm. M is continuing to be very independent, and has now graduated to using the "big" potty all by herself. We get lots of "Mommy, I do it" and "all by myself" remarks.
E is 9 months old, and getting closer and closer to being mobile. He will be off and running before we know it!
E is also finally growing hair!
M still takes after Dad, and tries to hide from the camera, making it very difficult to get pictures of her beautiful face.
We are waiting on the final documents to process before we officially start operating A Cut Above as a corporation. Whew what a process. I am still training for a marathon, and have finally decided to run the Santa Rosa Marathon on August 29. I am up to double digit long runs, and actually ran my first Race ever, on Nick's Birthday. Even with all the miles I've put on, 26.2 still seems like alot of miles to run in a row. :) We are slowly but surely cleaning up our storm damaged trees (not what Nick wants to do on his days off) and I hope to plant a few veggies as soon as the weather holds. All in all life is good. :)

Obituary: William R. Davis, CDR, USN (Ret)

All good things must come to an end. A gentleman of excellent character and a delightful disposition has passed away. William Russel Davis (Bill) was born in 1922 in Des Moines, Iowa to James Edward and Kitty Hildebrand Davis, the last of their four children. He died on February 2, 2010, at the age of 87 of Leukemia. He attended public schools in Des Moines and upon graduation from Lincoln High School, he took a job at Central Life under their College Plan. He attended Iowa State University where he enlisted in the Army ROTC program, later in 1943 transferring to the Navy to become an aviation cadet. By the time he was called to active duty, World War II had fewer casualties in Naval Air than anticipated, so it took him 22 months to obtain his wings and commission which occurred on August 8, 1945 in Corpus Christi, Texas. That was the week the first atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima, then the second on Nagasaki, and

Japan

surrendered on August 14^th. Bill married Elsie Spry whom he had met at Central Life, on August 10, 1945 in Des Moines, and they were on a train to Miami when the war ended.

His military career began with operational training at NAS Miami (Opa Locka) in the TBM Avenger. His next duty station was Quonset Point, RI in Torpedo Squadron VT-82 which sent him on two Mediterranean Sea deployments and a northern European cruise on the USS Randolph. Following assignment at CIC School at NAS Glenview, IL he became a “Plank Owner” in VC-12 squadron again at NAS Quonset Point where he flew the AD-1W aircraft. He again deployed to the Mediterranean, this time on the USS Philippine Sea, and he made cruises in various aircraft carriers off the East Coast. His next assignment was as GCA Controller at NAS Glenview in 1950-51. In 1952 he was ordered to VW-1 at NAS Barbers Point, Hawaii where he flew the PB-1 Flying Fortress and the WV-1 Constellation.

In 1952 he attended UCLA under the Holloway five-term program. Then he was ordered to General Line School at Monterey, CA. His next tour was with Fleet All Weather Training Unit (FAWTUPAC at San Diego) which was followed by a tour with VFAW-3 serving with the Air Force Continental Air Defense Command. Next he served as Air Navigation Officer at NAS San Diego. In 1960 he was assigned to VA-122 at NAS Moffett Field. The next year the squadron moved to NAS Lemoore, CA where he served as squadron Executive Officer. Then came a move back to NAS San Diego where he served as Flag Secretary to COMFAIRSAN DIEGO. In 1966 he served as Officer Personnel Officer on Staff COMNAVAIRPAC, followed by a tour as Officer in Charge of Naval Air Maintenance Training Detachments at NAS San Diego.

Upon return to NAS San Diego in 1964, CDR Davis bought a parcel of land in Coronado and had a house built suitable for his wife’s wheelchair. His wife Elsie had been stricken with polio when they lived in Hawaii in 1953 before there was a polio vaccine. They made 32 moves in his 30 year’s service in the military. He was survived by his loving wife Elsie Davis of Coronado, CA. They had two sons, Craig born at Quonset Point, now living in El Granada, CA and Dean born at Great Lakes Naval Station, now in Happy Camp, CA with wife Karen Hubbell Davis. Dean’s three daughters, Jasmine Borgatti (wife of Nick) of Mt. Shasta, CA, Fern Davis of Honolulu, HI and Cheyenne Davis of Weed, CA, also survive him, and two great-grandchildren, Madison and Elias Borgatti of Mt. Shasta, CA. He is also survived by one sister, Kathleen Nye of Fairfield, CA.

Following his retirement from the Navy June 30, 1972, Bill invested in and worked at Private Ledger Financial Services for ten years. After his retirement from the business world, he joined the North Island Men’s Golf Club. He was also a member of the Masons Coronado Lodge No. 441, and he had more time to take care of his wife..

Bill will be cremated and interred at Rosecrans Military Cemetery.

Services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his name may be made to MSF (Myelodysplastic Syndromes Fdn.), P.O. Box 353, Crosswicks, NJ 08515, or to Sharp HospiceCare, P.O. Box 3739, La Mesa, CA, 91944-3739.

Our little Mr Man had his 6 month well check today....he weighs in at 19 lbs. 8 oz., and is 27.5" tall. I looked up Miss M's stats, and she was the same weight at almost a year and same height at 9 months. :)

This last week has been "A" Week with Miss M....so among the many things starting with A we made apple pie. Yummy.We are off to sunny Coronado (yes that's So Cal) again. Our second trip in the last week. I hope to post a few more updates once I return. :)

At 4 months our Mr E officially weighs 18 lbs 2 oz. and is 26.25" tall. That's almost 10 lbs and 6" since birth. And just for comparison, Miss M was 18 lbs 2 oz. at her 11 month check up and 26" at her 9 month check up. Any votes on when E will zoom past M in height and weight?

The Whirlwind that was November

I don't know how November was for the rest of the world, but for the Borgatti Family it flew by....I have decided to condense it down into one semi-long blog.....hopefully I'll do better in December. :)

One of our Thanksgiving projects......Hand Turkeys.

Miss M loves when Mr E joins her in her bed.... Thanksgiving came with a whirlwind. We had officially lived in our new house for 5 days and we "hosted" the family gathering. Thankfully I only had to cook the Turkey, stuffing, and a few pies....Miss M and Rowan found they were closer to snacks when sitting in the pantry. (these two are only about a month apart and so very cute together.)

Black Friday is the annual Mt Shasta Christmas Tree Lighting.....which we will now make a yearly family tradition. It was freezing, but beautiful. Mr. E wasn't so sure he liked the cold.
Miss M on the other hand got a kick out of zooming around in the cold all bundled up....

Welcome to our new house. Slowly but surely we are making it a home.......

Happy 2nd Birthday Miss Madison. We celebrated her Birthday with a party on Sat. Oct. 24th.......Opening her first gift of the day from Grandma Cindy and Grandpa Lee.

And yes she had to wear her first gift....(the pink sweat shirt)......while she enjoyed her other gifts.....finger crayons from Great Grandma and Grandpa Davis.

We have had a busy week......

Oma came to visit bearing gifts..............a frog rain jacket and boots

and helped Miss M make cut-out cookies.Mr. E is learning to hold his head up during tummy time...... And we took an adventure on the McCloud Pumpkin Train.

Autumn is upon us and we are enjoying every minute. :)

Time Marches On.....

Today our little Mr E is 3 months old. How time flies. He has pretty much outgrown his non-sleep issues, and now follows a fairly simple non-fuss routine that closely matches Miss M's.....this includes sleeping through the night....well almost, he is up to eat, but then goes right back down! I caught Miss M with this toy catalog. She was oohing and awing at all the toys, pointing and talking about what she saw. I'm pretty sure if she had a pen, she would have been circling and putting her initials next to the items she wanted! (I can remember doing this as a kid!) So cute!

And with that, both kiddos are asleep, so I'm gonna use the quiet time to do a little reading. Yes, I have started a book, Once a Runner by John L. Parker, Jr. And I am determined to finish it in under a year! :)

Here we are in the middle of October....What's new? Mr E is un-officially up to 16lbs, while Miss M holds at a steady 24.5lbs. It's kind of fun comparing E's size and weight to M's at the same age markers....such a difference. The little Mr is about 2 months ahead of where his "Little" Big sister was. :) However, that doesn't stop Miss M from loving her "Big" Little Brother whenever she gets the chance.

Just to give you an idea on the size difference....Miss M wore this same outfit at 5 months. :)

We spent last weekend in the big HC at Oma and Pop Dean Dean's Pumpkin Patch.....as you can see we took home just about the entire patch!

And just in case we don't have enough to make us smile.....Miss M has started to play dress up in mommy's shoes and socks........oh and continues to refuse to wear pants (most of the time)! and Mr E continues to grow cheeks.......

On that note, we are off to our music and motion class and then back home to make paper bag pumpkins........

Miss M our little independent, discovered the wonderful world of markers......with her new found treasures she decided her legs & pants were the best canvas for expression......And just for the wondering minds....yes, she is wearing her monkey backpack.....

Mr E has become our "happy" boy, smiling and cooing any chance he gets!

You gotta love the gummy baby smile!...just melts my heart....

And on a very sad heart wrenching note....my wonderful gramps has been diagnosed with full blown Leukemia, and given less then 3 months to live....this wonderful angel of a man has spent his life taking care of his wife (who has been in a wheel chair due to polio for 56 years.)....the dedication and love he has given is truly amazing.....he has been and will continue to be an inspiration, a testament for true love..... I pray I will be able to hug him one last time before he leaves this world......tell those you love how much they mean to you daily.....and don't be selfish with the hugs. Life is precious and must not be taken for granted......

Micro or Macro

Well our little Mr. E is healthy and growing like a weed. He weighs in at 13lbs 15oz and is 23 3/4" tall at two months of age. Thats about 5 lbs and 4 inches since birth.....which puts him in the 90th percentile for height and 95th percentile for weight.....so the question is, is he still a micro or is he becoming a macro?

Little Miss M, who holds steady in the 1oth percentile for both weight and height, has her 2nd year photo shoot with Amanda Pratt Photography this afternoon. Little miss photogenic will, I'm sure, allow for yet another memory book filled with georgeous pictures. I'm off to pick lunch up off the floor, fold the laundry, put a very sleepy baby down for a nap, work on a new web page, get documents ready for a payroll audit, and some how manage to keep a two year old clean and tidy for her photo session.......wish me luck. :)

Bandains and Cheeks.....

As the adventure continues, we are amused daily by our two little micro minis....

"Bib. Two. Pease." Miss m who refused to wear bibs when she was learning to eat on her own, now insists on wearing two bibs during meals. :)

And when asked "look at mommy and smile," this is what I get......

We are also dealing with an invisible "oweee" which started on her finger, moved to the bottom of her foot, and now resides on her knee, this oweee is however magically fixed by a "bandain"....

Little Mr. E continues to grow cheeks......

And spends most of my waking hours sleeping, and most of my sleeping hours awake....

As I sit here and reflect.....all I can think is.....Life is perfect. :)

So here I am thinking to myself "what am I getting myself into? Just what I need is yet another thing to tie up my precious time during the day..... What the heck, it might be fun. Here goes nothing....." Just so everyone is on the same page here is the current standing of the Borgatti Family. Our newest addition little Mr. Elias Ryan is now 8 weeks old, growing like a weed, and spends most of his time eating, sleeping, and well making dirty diapers. :) Miss Madison Claire, now the big sister, is almost 23 months, and spends her time helping "mama," acting as her very own little tornado, and just plain being cute. Nick, Dada, or the hubby, spends his time keeping our business, A Cut Above Tree Service, floating in this economy and being a loving father and husband. I, as you can see, have way to much time on my hands, and spend my time blogging..... :) Well, not actually. My days are kept busy, by you guessed it, Mr. E and Miss M, not to mention, payroll/books for ACATS, and in the midst of it all starting a new business Alliance Properties. Lets just say there is never a dull moment around our house.......
